After three years of campaigning last night Dublin City Council voted to retain Tolka Park in public ownership for 250 years.
Tolka Park has been saved.
Bernard Mulvany, People Before Profit representative in Dublin Bay North and Local Election candidate in the Clontarf area, was a key member of the steering committee that achieved this momentous victory.
From the very beginning he advocated for the park to be retained in public ownership. He called for Dublin City Council to invest vital resources in upgrading the facilities, so Shelbourne FC has a facility that is fitting for a Northside League of Ireland club which has been going from strength to strength.
A venue that the club’s fans and supporters deserve. If we have learned anything from our involvement in this campaign it’s that people power works, it is hard work but, in the end, when people rise up together for their community great things can be achieved.
